photo(19)We celebrated Bryce’s 1st Birthday!  A day we will always remember, a day he won’t.  I wish we could remember our first birthdays, how fun would that be!?

The day Bryce was born, The Green Bay Packers were against the 49ers in the Playoffs, and then on his 1st birthday, it was the same thing!  So we went to a friend’s house to watch the game and celebrate his birthday.  Am I a mean mother that I asked people to NOT get him gifts because he has toys and then picks up the water bottle and plays with that instead.  Of course everyone still got him gifts, and I understand it’s the fun behind giving a gift.  Now I have created toy bins and I try to rotate the toys for him so he doesn’t get overwhelmed with too many items to play with at once.  It is fun to see him learning how to use his toys, and something from one toy keeping his attention one day and then something else the other day.

We got Bryce just a few gifts and my husband made the cake. It was going to be Bryce’s first bite of cake.  He didn’t want any of it!  I was actually happy though because I didn’t want him to start becoming a picky eater already after having a bite of the sweet cake.

The rest of the day was spent with the adults watching football and the kids watching Bryce run around the house.  And that was the day.  No ponies or clowns, just a fun little get together.  Sure, in the future there will probably be themed birthdays or trips to an attraction in San Diego where we will celebrate.  I love parties, but I’m also a practical person.  What is something you did for your child’s birthday that turned out great, or what is something you would never do again?
