photo(37)My husband and I will always call Wisconsin “Home” since we grew up there and our entire family is there.  So when someone pointed out to us that our babies are being born in California and may call this their home, we stopped and said, “They will always have Wisconsin roots.”  Especially since we realized some of our best friends in Wisconsin might be our lucky charms in getting pregnant.  We were with them in Vegas celebrating my husband’s 30th birthday, and conceived Bryce.  Then a few years later, we were back in Wisconsin for this couple’s Wedding and got pregnant again!  When they saw this cute baby onesie, they had to get it for us, and we love it!

We just bought a sign for our home, “Life takes you to unexpected places, Love brings you home.”  Even if we aren’t physically in Wisconsin, we have fun books about Wisconsin, and keep Wisconsin food and traditions alive in our home.  Our kids are going to get the best of both worlds: our favorites from Wisconsin mixed with the great adventures of San Diego.

I think it’s just the realization that we are at the point of our lives together that this is the start of OUR home with OUR family in San Diego!  It’s that “all grown up” feeling like when we moved out for college, got our first apartment, got married, moved across country, had our first baby, and now getting ready for baby #2… realizing it’s that next step in making your house a home for your family.
