Compromising during Football Season

I knew my son was going to be a daddy’s boy when he said “touchdown” and “Go Pack Go” before he ever said “mommy.”

Football season is back and will be consuming our household until February.  My husband not only loves to watch, but he is dedicated to winning his Fantasy Football leagues.  Yes, plural.

I consider football season my husband’s biggest hobby.  That said, I understand how exciting this time of year is for him and how much enjoyment he gets out of it, especially if our team is winning.   Yes, I said “our” team because I do like getting involved and having fun as a couple and as a family during football season.

Time to compromise!  I give him his time to watch the big games, go elsewhere to watch the games with no kid distractions, and go to football parties as a family.  Keep in mind football parties sound more fun than they really are with 2 little ones.  For me, it’s more of a time to catch up with friends while chasing the babies around rather than really paying attention to the game on TV.

Today my husband was gone all day to watch preseason games and to do his Fantasy Football Draft.  Showing his appreciation, he made dinner and took care of the kids right away when walking into the door.  Just like any hobby in a relationship comes compromise and communication on how much time and money goes into that hobby to keep everyone as happy as possible.
