Evanescence…who is that? Isn’t that a band from 2001? More than likely that is what most young people today would say when hearing that name, but a lot of moms still listen to them and

the bands leader Amy Lee is going stronger than ever.  Lee has recently written songs for motion picture soundtracks, recorded a new CD and is kicking off a new tour with Evanescence in October. Why are you telling me this you ask? Because Lee has an insanely successful career that keeps her more than busy, and along with all of her busy career stuff, is the mother of her adorable son Jack. We always imagine a rock stars life as sex, drugs and rock and roll, but Lee is the complete opposite. She’s a normal working mom like you that goes to the park and plays with her son.

On your way to work every day, after dropping the little one off at school or daycare, you’re thinking about scheduling your kids baseball games, Gymboree classes, dinner etc. It all seems a bit overwhelming doesn’t it? You’re not alone, which is why it’s very inspirational to know that this goddess of a Goth Metal band goes through the same thing. She is very honest about just being a mom. With everything  Amy has going on in her professional life, she has also recently found time to write, and release a children’s CD inspired by her son Jack. Amy Lee states,“who knew watching your wee one on the baby monitor could inspire a song?!  I’m excited because it’s a side of myself that I don’t use that much lately. Most of the time I’m Jack’s mom, hanging out at the neighborhood sandbox or watching Curious George while making him dinner. Many days I don’t put on makeup, and if I wear a necklace it’s getting ripped off. I get to strap the boots on, pour glitter all over myself and thrash around onstage with my badass rock band. YES! I’m ready! The hard part is leaving him. It’s insanely painful. We will see each other but with long stretches in between, this will be the longest we’ve been apart and it’s killing me just thinking about it.”

Amy’s career has always been a top priority for her. But that has changed since Jack came into the picture. Between juggling records, movie soundtracks and now a tour, being a mom is her #1 labor of love.
