18th Celebration of Music Education Concerts

The San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory (SDYS) presents two special concerts each year to honor the dedicated music educators in our region and celebrate the importance of music education in the lives of our youth and the entire community.

This year SDYS honors Cinda Peck, Carmel Del Mar Elementary School teacher for over 15 years, and Kay Etheridge, Adjunct Professor of Music at University of San Diego, with the 2013 Profiles in Music Education Awards.

Please join us for both or either of these concerts to celebrate the art of music education:

1pm Concert: Award presentation to Cinda Peck.
Intermediate Winds and Orchestras: Concert Winds, Wind Symphony, Concert Orchestra and Sinfonia.

5pm Concert: Award presentation to Kay Etheridge.
Advanced Winds and Orchestras: Wind Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonia.

SDYS is proud to offer complimentary concert tickets to all music educators in San Diego County. This annual event gives over 600 students enrolled in the San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory an opportunity to personally thank their music instructors or tutors and gives SDYS an opportunity to show appreciation for their support in helping us reach so many children in the San Diego area.

SDYS’ Celebration of Music Education Concerts are part of their effort to build community awareness and support for music education. The Balboa Park and Community Opus Project programs are designed to demonstrate the multiple benefits that students, schools and neighborhoods accrue through music.
