‘Iipay Aa Tiipay Aa Uumall: More Than Words – Saving Our Endangered Language Program

November 5, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

FREE

Ongoing until Saturday, November 28, 2015

In recognition of Native American Month this November, the Barona Band of Mission Indians invites you to visit the Barona Cultural Center & Museum to share and celebrate their rich heritage, traditions and culture.

Using the monumental 696-page Barona Inter-Tribal Dictionary, which is now available for purchase, the museum explores the origins of the Barona language and works to document and preserve the native language in several dialects. Learn about the history of the language, which was almost lost to urbanization, area missionaries and assimilation programs.

The Barona Cultural Center and Museum offers visitors of all ages an exciting opportunity to witness history and discover more about how local indigenous populations live today. Learn more by visiting the website at www.BaronaMuseum.org.
