Youth Coding Workshops

July 9, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$35 – $50

We offer unmatched expertise in computer science education. Students aged 8-18 can engage in fun projects while becoming expert coders. We offer weekend workshops in which students of all ages choose from a variety of challenges designed to introduce them to programming and build their skill set. Students can join at any time because the challenges are self-paced. No lectures; students learn by doing with the help of our college mentors.

Although we have plenty of challenges in advanced languages like Javascript for those with programming experience, first-timers have the option of starting with material specifically designed to engage students with no prior programming experience.

We start with simple projects in Scratch and slowly build the complexity of each consecutive challenge to teach students how to think like a programmer, not just copy and paste code from a workbook. Upon completing a challenge, each student earns a specific “achievement card,” which makes it easy to track his/her progress and provides the students with greater motivation to attempt more complex projects.

Ongoing from now until December 31, 2016
