She said it with a smile, and in all innocence – she knew I was going out to dinner with a friend and she was excited to have some one on one time with Dad. We all giggled together, once she realized what she had said. But it still made me think – about the funny things kids say, about Mom Guilt, and about what it’s going to be like as she grows up and needs me less. Because no matter how much I need a break sometimes, when I really think about what it’s going to be like as our little girl grows up and needs us less and less, it just kills me inside. Of course I know it’s natural and healthy and blah blah blah, but, DUDE – it’s rough. And her being happy about a night without mom? That’s just the tip of the iceberg. I’m so glad we have a dog. 🙂
