It’s time to celebrate mom this weekend! If you are still looking for some ideas on how to show mom you care, here are some great ideas right here in San Diego!
Mother’s Day Teas
Nothing says classy like an afternoon tea with mom. If she would enjoy a selection of tasty pastries and sandwiches while sipping on a specialty tea, there a couple places in San Diego that are offering Mother’s Day teas including Julian Tea & Cottage Arts and The Westgate Hotel in Downtown San Diego. Space is limited so make reservations now.
Mother’s Day Brunch
If a bottomless mimosa is more of your mom’s idea of fun, there are plenty of options in San Diego. Our favorite is a brunch cruise on the San Diego bay. Both Flagship and Hornblower offer an amazing Mother’s Day Brunch with amazing food and a great view of San Diego.
Gator by the Bay Festival
Mardi Gras may be long over, but that doesn’t mean mom doesn’t want to party New Orleans style. Gator by the Bay is back for the first time since 2019 with an entire weekend full of music and AMAZING food! Tickets range from $45-$65 and kids 17 and under are free with a paid adult.
Enjoy the Theater
If your mom is a theater nut, there are plenty of local productions to take in this weekend. “Million Dollar Quartet,” the story of one night in the recording studio with Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis, is playing at the Lams Players Theater in Coronado. At the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, a musical based on the movie “Once” is currently playing. “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” is a great one for the whole family based on the book series currently at Casa Del Prado Theater in Balboa Park. Finally, at The Old Globe Theater is a production of “Bob Fosse’s Dancin’” for moms who love the art of dance!
Something a Little Different
Looking for something that mom may not have done before on Mother’s Day? The Escondido Renaissance Faire is this weekend featuring jousting tournaments, live music, food and so much more. Or, take mom to a ball game! The Padres are taking on the Miami Marlins this Sunday for an afternoon game and the first 8,000 kids in attendance will receive Padres-branded Roshambo sunglasses!
