Whether you’re looking for a free afternoon adventure or a full day of family fun, here are some of the best splash pads around San Diego County.
- Civita Park – Mission Valley
One of San Diego’s most popular splash pads, Civita Park features dozens of ground-level water jets that kids can run through for hours. The park also has two playgrounds, wide open grassy areas, shaded picnic spots, restrooms, and even a dog park, making it a great destination for the whole family. The splash pad typically operates daily during warmer months, but it’s always a good idea to check operating hours before you go.
- Waterfront Park – Downtown San Diego
Located along the San Diego Bay, Waterfront Park combines gorgeous waterfront views with one of the county’s most iconic splash fountains. Kids love racing through the fountains while parents enjoy the shaded seating, modern playground, picnic areas, and easy access to nearby restaurants and attractions.

- Mountain Hawk Park – Chula Vista
This East County favorite offers Chula Vista’s only interactive water feature, complete with sprays and splash zones perfect for younger children. The park also includes walking trails, basketball courts, scenic lake views, playgrounds, and shaded picnic areas. The splash pad generally operates from spring through early fall.
- Hilton Head County Park – El Cajon
Pirate lovers will feel right at home here. Hilton Head County Park features a fun pirate-themed splash playground with fountains and water features designed especially for younger kids. Admission is inexpensive, and the park also offers playgrounds, picnic areas, and beautiful scenery.
- Pepper Park – National City
