It’s interesting how your relationship changes with your parents after you have their grandchildren.  Creating that balance of your own family time vs. their time with the grandchildren.  Then balancing that time with each grandparent so noone feels left out.  It can be tough!

grandparentsWe have a different situation since our children have a long distance relationship with their grandparents.  After Grandma and Grandpa leave to go back to Wisconsin, I usually feel guilty of living across America.  Then I’m reminded to be happy with what we do have and to live our lives.  A friend of mine shared that her brother moved back home after feeling guilty, and then their mom announced she was moving to Florida.  Another friend shared she lives TOO close to family and has the battle of creating her own family time away from the grandparents who come over announced to her home all the time.

Yes there are times I wish we could live closer so we could spend more holidays and celebrations together; but then I look at the quality time we have during those visits and realize we just had a week long slumber party with Grandma and Grandpa, that’s pretty cool!
