I use to be so punctual and it drove me crazy when others would show up late.   Just leave earlier and you’ll always be on time, right??  When traveling with toddlers it’s never that easy.  You have to be a parent to fully understand the amount of time it can take to prepare the family for an outing.

See the mess in this photo!?  That happened while we were getting ready to leave for dinner at our friend’s house.  How could this happen you ask?  I just had to use the bathroom… CAN I NOT go to the bathroom anymore without something getting broken or someone getting hurt?!mess

My son used his ninja skills to get out of his play area, interrupt MY time in the bathroom, grab the powder right in front of my eyes with an evil laugh saying “bye mom!”   NOOOO get back here!!  I finished up as quickly as possible and ran into the the kitchen to discover the damage.

Before cleaning up the floor, I took the photo to send my friends and just said “sorry we’re running a little late.”

So that was a big mess and a valid excuse.   Why does it always take longer than you expect it to?  It never fails; I’m always repeating myself before we leave the house, “find your shoes, put your shoes on, stop taking off your clothes, go to the bathroom, let’s grab a snack, yes I will bring some water, stop hurting your sister, let’s go, where is your other shoe, OK let’s go!”

Finally after all of that, I forgot to restock the diapers in the diaper bag.
