It was truly a heart-wrenching sight: after a family’s SUV blew a tire on an interstate in Brighton, CO, it then flipped, ejecting everyone — both parents and four children — inside the

vehicle. When police officers arrived, the father was pronounced dead at the scene — a scene no child should have to witness. One cop, Officer Nick Struck, made it his job to distract one of the toddlers, a young girl, so she wouldn’t have to see the aftermath.

“It’s so horrible to see something like that happen, especially because it could have been prevented,” Officer Matrious told the station. “If the father was wearing a seat-belt, then he’d still be here.”

Thankfully, the little girl had someone to comfort her in the midst of it all.
