They say your whole world changes when you become a parent – and that includes the simple task of watching a movie.  Actually GOING to a movie is a whole other story, this is just about sitting on the couch, watching a movie together.  We tried watching American Hustle during a weekday…  Your first question might be, “Why not wait until your kid just goes to bed?”  That’s my bedtime too nowadays!  My husband and I work opposite schedules so I’m going to bed at the same time Bryce is and then my husband wakes up with Bryce while I’m already at work.  This early evening, however, we had some time together and thought we could rent a movie and watch it with no problems – think again.

So here we are trying to watch the movie, and it starts off great with Bryce in his play area totally content with his toys.  Just as the movie starts to get interesting, Bryce is hungry.  Pause the movie while I get food for him.  Then he’s not happy with anything in his play area anymore.  Pause the movie to get him entertained with a new toy.  Then he stinks up the whole apartment with his diaper, pause the movie for diaper changing.  After pausing the movie so many times and getting our daily workout running back and forth, we finally come to the end of the movie.  That’s when Bryce decides to just stand and scream at the top of his lungs.  My husband is quick on his feet and gives Bryce something he’s never played with before, a container of peanut butter, closed of course.  Whew, Bryce is content and we finish the movie.  Sure it may have taken us almost 4 hours to finish one movie, but we did it!

If it’s been awhile since you’ve GONE to an actual movie theater, well now you can WITH your baby and not feel weird about it!  “Mommy & Me Movies” set up on Wednesdays, find out all about it HERE
