9-11 memorial museumDiscussing 9/11 isn’t an easy task. Parents often say, “I want to tell my child what happened but don’t know where to begin.” Those behind the creation of the 9/11 Memorial in New York City have prepared some tips to help you navigate these conversations by offering simple and effective guidelines for talking to your children about such a difficult topic.

You can also download the Museum Guide for Children (PDF) to help visitors 8 to 11 years old understand the history of the World Trade Center, what happened on 9/11, and how the site has been rebuilt.  Even though you may not be visiting the museum and memorial soon, this still makes a good reference point for young people to understand what happened and what the memorial represents.
