When you become a parent, your schedule is no longer about you but about your baby.  You dreamt of being a mommy or daddy, but now you want time to yourself, is that natural?  I say YES!  Of course you love your child, but you should always take care of YOU too.  Having some alone time, clearing your mind and reenergizing is beneficial to you and your baby.

Today my babies were napping and my husband was home so I told him I was going to get out of the house.  Guess what I did?  I went to get gas, vacuumed my car from our family day at the beach, and treated myself to some frozen yogurt.  I was gone less than an hour, and it felt great.  Now I’m reenergized for the kids to wake up from their naps and have more playtime with mommy.

It can be comical to talk with other parents about what they do when they escape the house.  My husband goes to the grocery store; my sister will go to a park to just walk around by herself; and of course, I always enjoy shopping while being able to take my time walking up and down the aisles without kids getting bored and grabbing whatever is in their hand’s reach.

This weekend, my husband and I celebrate our 7th Wedding Anniversary and we are so thrilled to be going to the movie theater and a nice restaurant that is kid free.  I can’t remember the last time we went to a movie together and the thought of actually enjoying each bite of food instead of scarving our faces at a restaurant is going to be marvelous.  For those couple of hours it will be about the two of us, and then the rest of the weekend it will be about being parents.
