vanWe were trying to avoid the inevitable, buying a minivan.

Our adventures in the minivan already began before we even bought it.  Before I took it out for the test drive, we told our toddlers to get on in and run around the van.  Bad idea when our son had an upset tummy.  Yup you guessed it, he barfed in the backseat!  I even thought in my head “well you barf in it, you buy it.”  Thank goodness we loved it and yes bought our first minivan.

When we realized we couldn’t even go grocery shopping as a family of 4 in my car, it was time to enter our new stage of life: minivan owners.

It’s so funny the stigma and jokes about the “soccer mom van” but everyone I talk with who has ever owned one, LOVED it and didn’t want to give it up.  I remember growing up with the minivan, and after all 4 of us kids were grown and out of the house, my mom still wanted to keep the minivan forever.

I know I will become like my mom though when I think of all the great tasks we can do now.  From something so simple like going grocery shopping and not worrying about running out of space, to taking only ONE vehicle to places when we have visitors.  Our 3 year old son already said, now we can go camping!  “Let’s pack up the tent, my chairs, and stuff for smores,” he said.  That right there will be the REAL first adventure we go on in the minivan!
