A nurse named Rachel Lee has asked Unicode, the creator of the emoji keyboard, to add a breastfeeding emoji. emojis-775px-2

This is a great idea. When my wife was breastfeeding our son she was often on her phone texting and posting to social media, so I have no doubt it would get used a lot.

Rachel’s proposal said:

“I propose adding an emoji for breastfeeding as a complement to the existing baby bottle emoji, and to complete the set of family emojis,” writes Lee. “The lack of a breastfeeding emoji represents a gap in the Unicode Standard given the prevalence of breastfeeding in cultures around the world, and throughout history.”

See her design for how it would look here.
