Julian Apple Harvest

Revel in the fall foliage and delight in succulent apples September through mid-October (or when apples are gone) during the Julian Apple Harvest when Julian celebrates the award-winning apples that helped it prosper after a short-lived gold rush in the late 1800’s. Located only 45 minutes northeast of San Diego, this charming and historic mountain town offers homemade apple pie, apple cider, art shows and entertainment during this favorite time of year.

The highlight of the harvest is the Julian Apple Days Festival, a two-day celebration on October 4th and 5th at Menghini Winery, which features apple displays, music and dancing, an antique tractor display, children’s games and activities, gold panning demonstrations, a beer and wine garden, food and merchandise vendors, contests, and, of course, apple pie. The event runs from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, both Saturday and Sunday. The admission is $5 for adults with children 12 and under free of charge. The first 250 people through the gate (paid admission only) each day receive a free pie server.

Julian offers a San Diego day trip or weekend getaway with a scenic countryside setting, stunning Victorian architecture, century-old stores, romantic B&Bs and other well-preserved landmark reminders of its colorful past.
