Local volunteers are working hard to ensure that veterans laid to rest at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Miramar National Cemetery and Greenwood Memorial Park are honored this December on National Wreaths Across America Day.
This year, the ceremony, held simultaneously across the country at more than 1,000 locations, will be on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at 9 a.m. The goal: to place a live, balsam fir wreath at the headstone of every veteran buried there and say each person’s name, so their memory lives on.
National Wreaths Across America Day is a free event, open to all on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at 9 a.m. at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Miramar National Cemetery and Greenwood Memorial Park.
For more information, to sponsor a wreath or to sign up to volunteer, please visit the Wreaths Across America website.

Some parents refuse to (or can’t!) oblige every want, and others don’t have a problem with it. Emma Tapping is a mom of three whose massive Christmas gift mountain got even bigger this year.
