Kids’ New Years Eve at LEGOLAND

LEGOLAND California re-creates the Times Square ball drop with a giant LEGO brick falling 22 feet in the air at San Diego’s largest Kids’ New Year’s Eve Party!

Join in the festivities with party hats and special glasses for viewing fireworks. The party concludes just in time for our countdown at 6:00 PM with a fireworks display illuminating the sky and providing a great ending to an amazing year.

Pajama Jam: Family New Year’s Party

The New Children’s Museum downtown is getting ready to celebrate two milestones in 2018: their 35th anniversary in San Diego and their 10th birthday as The NEW Children’s Museum, a new model of children’s museum using contemporary art to inspire imagination and creativity.

On December 30, the Museum is kicking off their celebratory year with Pajama Jam, a new year’s party for the whole family.

Starts at 5:30pm!

Port Of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade

The scenic, bayside streets of downtown San Diego will come alive with the Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade presented by National Funding. As always, this exciting family event brings together world-class marching bands, magnificent floats, entertaining drill teams, and a procession of enormous balloons – more than any other parade. Over 100,000 street-side spectators will enjoy the parade along with a nationwide television audience.

Street-side viewing of the parade is free of charge.

Ready To Recycle That Christmas Tree?

Where can I recycle a Christmas tree?

  • The Miramar Greenery accepts trees throughout the year.
  • I Love a Clean San Diego and the County of San Diego have a website at www.WasteFreeSD.org to help County residents find the nearest tree recycling dropoff site in San Diego County.
  • Curbside collection (For residents with yard waste collection only)
    • Manual container customers using their own bins should place trees on the curb for collection on your regular greenery recycling pickup day. Trees over four feet in length should be cut in half.
    • Automated container customers using the large, green 96-gallon bin provided by the city should cut their trees to fit into the automated container for pickup on collection day.

  • Encanto – Cielo Drive at Woodman Street
  • Golden Hill – Golden Hill Recreation Center, 2600 Golf Course Drive

  • Ocean Beach – Robb Athletic Field Recreation Center, 2525 Bacon Street
  • Otay Mesa/Nestor – Montgomery Waller Community Park (lower-west parking lot)
  • Rancho Bernardo – Rancho Bernardo Recreation Center, 18448 W. Bernardo Drive
  • Rancho Penasquitos – Canyonside Recreation Center, 12350 Black Mountain Road
  • San Diego State University – Parking Lot 17C off Alvarado Road
