Whew what a fun Thanksgiving weekend! All our family lives in Wisconsin so we had a plan all set to announce that we are expecting baby #2 with some pictures in their Thanksgiving cards “another reason to be Thankful this Thanksgiving” and it worked great! The phone calls started coming right before Thanksgiving of pure surprise and joy. With stress from their jobs and the holiday, it was perfect timing for many family members too as they said all their worries went out the door, and no matter what it was going to be a great Thanksgiving.
I’m the oldest of 4 and we are all close in age. In fact, there are only 5 years separating me from my youngest brother. I love having siblings and am so excited for Bryce to have a sibling and a friend for life. I have great childhood memories playing with my siblings outside in our playhouse, spending hours with my sister playing with our Barbies and dollhouse, making up a restaurant and rotating who would be the server, customer, chef, etc. My husband had a different experience as his brother is 11 years older than him! He tells me when he was 6 we would annoy his 16 year old brother by trying to play his guitar. Now as adults they are very close and have so much in common.
Even though all our family is in Wisconsin, it was still difficult keeping the pregnancy a secret. One of my coworkers noticed I was being more absent minded and asked me if I was pregnant, which I responded with a laugh and a white lie saying “yea I don’t think so”. Then of course there was Facebook I had to keep watching for comments after more people were being told. So needless to say, I’m glad there is no secret anymore and the “big news” is out there!
Congratulations! What a fun way to share the news with family. I was always horrible with keeping my news a secret. My husband found out about my first pregnancy from his sister…on MYSPACE!
I have 4 older sisters My mom had all 5 of us withing 7 years. I loved growing up with that family dynamic which is why I preferred to have our kids close together as well.
Wow talk about finding out in a surprising way though I guess – on Myspace lol!
