In just the first four months of 2014, CAL FIRE has already responded to a significant increase in wildfires due to the extremely dry conditions and California’s drought.

The past week has seen the worst firestorm for San Diego County since the 2007 wild fires.  As a result, CAL FIRE officials are reminding residents to ensure they are maintaining 100 feet of Defensible Space; a reminder that comes several months earlier than normal.

CAL FIRE has created ReadyForWildFire.org — a resource for everything a family needs to know to protect their home, prepare emergency kits and evacuation plans and be completely fire-ready.
