Growing up I always heard the debate of career vs. family and you couldn’t have both. I’m a career woman AND a family woman. Why can’t I be both?
I want to change this attitude of “you can’t have it all”. Let’s just stop the debate about stay-at-home parent vs. working parent! My mom was a stay-at-home parent and she worked hard for me just like my friends’ mom’s worked hard for them. Kids just want a happy home filled with love. How can you give them a happy home? YOU have to be happy!
Think about it, no matter where you are in life, there are always going to be some sacrifices being made. Why? Sometimes compromise is the key to happiness! Time to focus on what is the best for you and your life.
Now that I’m in my 30s, it seems all my friends are in full swing with their careers and/or having babies. My sister works while my brother-in-law stays at home with the kids. My best friend stays at home while her husband works. My husband and I have opposite work schedules and that works perfect for us. Do what works best for YOUR family!
Of course there are many days I wish I was closer (geographically) to my parents and siblings; however, right now what works best for MY family, is being right here in San Diego working a dream job and spending time with our babies. Then, when we see our family and friends from home, it just makes those days that much better!
