I have decided to compile a list of things that I would like to do in 2017 that I didn’t do well in 2016. Here it goes!
- Make exercising a part of my schedule
In 2016, I would try to “throw-in” exercising when I could but I always found a reason why I couldn’t. This year, I want to find some fitness/dance that are regularly scheduled to add to my schedule. If I can manage Soccer practices, games and dance classes for the kids then I can manage adding some “mommy activities” as well.
- Cooking more and eating out less
In 2016, I ordered takeout or delivery WAY more than I probably should have. Not only takeout/delivery more expensive than cooking at home but more importantly it’s usually unhealthy. This year, I’m going to invest in a good crock-pot and try some new recipe ideas. (Not gonna lie, this goal is going to be one of the tougher ones for me to try and stick to). Stop Buying Coffee – I don’t even want to know how much money I spent buying Coffee in the morning on my way to work. In 2017, I am going to stick with the free coffee at work.
- Limit Electronics
2016 was the first year that my children and I all owned our own smart phones/tablets/handheld gaming systems. We all use them WAY too much, I admit it. In 2017, I am going to make it a rule: NO ELECTRONICS 2 hours before bedtime for anyone (including myself).
- CHORES FOR EVERYONE!
My kids did not have chores in 2016. I would occasionally ask the boys to unload the dishwasher (when I was too tired to do it myself). Sometimes I would ask them to take the garbage to the curb but nothing was mandatory or assigned. In 2017, I am going to assign chores that will need to be done on a regular basis and if the chores aren’t done, then I’ll have to be the “the bad guy” and start taking their privileges away (Which is something I wasn’t very good at doing in 2016 either).
Wish me luck!!! Happy New Year!!!
