When was the last time you went out with a friend?  No kids, no spouses, just you and a friend.  I know it’s tough!  In between giving time to your job, your kids, your spouse, your family time, you realize “wait when was the last time I really TALKED with my friend or actually SAW them in person?!”

Sure we have social media where we see our friends living their busy lives with their kids too, but I’m trying harder in the New Year to actually spend time WITH my friends.

We get together with our friends in group settings or do play dates, but the other day I realized my husband was going to be home with the kids when I had off from work! I started texting all of my girlfriends I haven’t seen in months and asked just to get out for some shopping or a lunch.

shoppingMy friend is a stay-at-home mom and I knew it had been awhile since she got out with just a friend so I was happy when we were able to get away to the mall for even just 2 hours!  We could actually listen to each other without any of our kids interrupting our conversation.  We could actually shop and take our time looking at clothes for us instead of rushing thru the aisles before a kid would scream, need a snack, or need a diaper change.  Those 2 hours were just what we both needed!

So to my other friends, let’s get a date on the calendar because I miss you too!
