How many of our local museums have you visited? If you can only count them on one hand then you will be excited for February as it is Museum Month! Throughout the month of February you can visit more than 60 of San Diego’s museums for half the price.
All you have to do is pick up a 50% off pass at any public library in San Diego County and bring it to the museum of your choice. Passes will also be available online soon.
So which museums should you visit first? Here are some of our favorites:
Comic-Con Museum
San Diego’s newest museum celebrates the classic comic convention that takes over downtown every year. This museum highlights the comics and other popular culture that help make Comic-Con such a phenomenon. The permanent Pac-Man exhibit allows you to play many different versions of the fan-favorite arcade game. While they just closed the Spider-Man exhibit, their social media is teasing the next big exhibit opening soon that looks like it will feature a certain Springfield family. Note: Discounted Museum Month 1/2 off admission only available on Tuesdays at the Comic-Con Museum. Discount is limited to 4 tickets.
San Diego Automotive Museum
Who doesn’t love a room full of cars? The San Diego Automotive Museum is home to 100s of cars and other vehicles that are a must see. Our favorite is Louie Mattar’s Fabulous Car. This car took three drivers cross country from San Diego to New York in 1952 without stopping once! The features this unique car has are an amazing sight!
USS Midway Museum
If you haven’t been to the Midway yet you MUST go! You could spend many hours here exploring this ship and learning its history. The audio tour that comes with each admission is fantastic and extremely educational. I’ve been to the USS Midway many times and see and learn something new each time.
New Children’s Museum
This is a great opportunity to spend some time at the New Children’s Museum. There is so much to see and do that your young ones will be entertained for hours.
Museum of Making Music
When you head to Legoland you may have seen the signs for the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, but have you ever been? With 50% off admission this is the time to check it out! This is a great place for your child to check out the musical instrument they have been thinking about playing as they have a ton of instruments available for you to try.
Pacific Southwest Railway Museum
If you have a railroad lover in your house, then you MUST visit the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum! Not only do they have trains on display but you can also take a ride on one. For Museum Month you can get 50% off train rides and museum admission in February for walk-up ticket purchases at the Campo Depot only.
