Spring is one of the best times of year in San Diego, California — the weather’s mild, kids have a well-deserved break from school, and there’s no shortage of fun day camps and activities to choose from. Whether your child loves art, science, movement, outdoor games, or creative play, there’s something for every interest and age group this Spring Break (March 23–April 3, 2026).

Creative & Arts-Focused Camps

The New Children’s Museum Spring Camp

Looking for a creative arts experience? At this project-based art camp, campers explore themes like nature and imagination through hands-on artmaking, creativity, and play. This one-day session runs on April 2, 2026 with professional artist-educators guiding kids through studio time and museum explorations.

What it includes:

  • Creative studio activities
  • Art projects based on flora and fauna
  • Hands-on museum experiences

Time: 8:45 am–3:45 pm

Cost: Around $110 (Members & Non-Members)

Classic Spring Break Day Camps

Many of San Diego’s community centers and parks departments host week-long spring camps for various ages, typically during March 30 through April 3, 2026 (with some closures for Cesar Chavez Day). These camps are great for kids who want a mix of activities — games, crafts, teamwork, outdoor play, and socializing.

Community Center Camps

Here are some weekly spring camp options across the city:

  • Day Camp at Memorial Recreation Center – fun outdoor and indoor activities for ages 6-14.
  • Spring Camp at Mountain View Community Center – a structured camp with arts and movement for ages 5-13.
  • Day Camp at Paradise Hills Recreation Center – activities ranging from sports to team games.
  • Half-Day Spring Break Camp at Pacific Highlands Ranch Recreation Center – morning sessions with games and creative fun.

Typical Hours: 8:00 am–4:00 pm (varies by site)
Costs: Vary by program, but many are affordable and community-oriented.

Specialty & Themed Camps

STEM & Movement Camps

While the city rec centers focus on general day camp experiences, other local organizations often host specialized Spring Camp weeks with unique themes:

  • Exploration + STEAM Camps (varied hands-on learning modules like science games and experiments) — check local rec guides for listings.
  • Kinder Mission Spring Camps – themed weeks like Super Heroes & Science and Arts & Dragons (March 23–27 and March 30–April 3, 2026).

These camps can be a great fit for kids interested in science, superheroes, storytelling, and creative adventures.

Helpful Tips for Parents

When Are These Camps?

Most spring break camps in San Diego cluster around late March to early April 2026, often March 23–27 and March 30–April 3.

Registration
Registration typically opens in late winter or early spring. For museum and nonprofit camps, registration dates (and member discounts) vary, so check each program early.

What to Pack

  • Sunscreen & a hat for outdoor play
