Another “first” is in the books! Bryce’s first time Trick or Treating. He was the cutest monkey even though he didn’t smile once while in the costume. He would just stare at the people handing us candy and make baby babble when I took the monkey head off. It is one of those moments I did try to take mental snap shots of too as I held him the whole time taking him up to each house for blocks and blocks. Mommy and Daddy got some delicious candy out of the night too! It was fun to experience my first Trick or Treating in over 15 years and now experiencing it as a parent. Seeing all the fun costumes and families having a good time with their kids or with their fellow neighbors. It brought back some great childhood memories of my mom making our costumes and my dad taking us around the neighborhood. Seeing the prices of costumes, I now understand why my mom would make the costumes for her 4 kids!
We are going to experience many “firsts” in these next months with Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner. All of our family is in Wisconsin so we are going to make our own family traditions here in San Diego. Being from Wisconsin, we do need to take Bryce to experience snow for Christmas so I want to do a trip to the mountains. It’s funny to think about starting new traditions, and the first things that come to mind are what I grew up doing and right away want to continue. Going to Christmas Eve Mass to coming home and putting out lots of food, especially my favorite, the shrimp cocktail. Yea that is defiantly going to be a Christmas Tradition I want to continue. One tradition I know I will not continue for right now, making enough cookies to feed the entire neighborhood like my mom does ever year.
What are some family traditions you continue and what are some traditions you are starting for the first time with your own family? Finally, what Holiday Events do you like doing or going to in San Diego with the family?
