One of the purchases I thought was overpriced was the baby gate. $70 for 6 pieces of hard plastic was a deal?! It makes our 2 bedroom place feel even smaller. However, being able to know he is in a safe area with his toys while we have some relaxing time is priceless. Also, I will give props to the baby gate for being there when Bryce was learning to walk as he would hold himself up on the gate and walk sideways following the gate. As time went on, he would walk with just one hand on the gate, then get faster. This week that changed when he took his first steps hands free from the baby gate!
Yes there are times I look at him like a monkey at the zoo when he is his baby gate area (see picture), is that why parents started nicknaming their baby “monkey?”
Then there are the times each day he just does not want anything to do with his toys in his area and cries every time I set him down. So I sit in there with him, start playing a toy with him, give him some of those baby puffs for him to eat, then I sneak over the baby gate. That seems to work the best, unless of course he is having a “teething” day then it’s a crap shoot.
Parents be careful though! There was that time I totally tripped over the baby gate while on the phone with a friend. Thankfully Bryce and his toys were not in my way where I landed.
What did you purchase with hesitation, but are now so happy you have it?
