Is there anything more fun than shopping for baby clothes?! That is until I see the prices for the clothes. They are just as expensive as my clothes, and she will only wear them for a few months until needing a bigger size. Thank goodness for Grandparents who are having fun shopping for baby too. My in-laws sent a package filled with baby girl clothes, and Grandma-to-be said she could have bought the whole store. I know the feeling!
I showed my sister a picture of some clothes I bought for baby, and then a picture of an outfit sent to us from Grandparents, and she wrote back “hey stop buying these, I want to buy these!” Every time I go to the store, I have to go thru the baby department to just look at the baby clothes. Then I hear my husband’s voice, “put it down, don’t buy it.” Again, why is it so fun & addicting to buy clothes for baby? It must be the memories of playing dress up and dolls from childhood and now being able to do it in real life.
So now that I’ve done the first step, admitting my problem, I guess I need to go onto the next step: stay away from the baby clothes department of the store. Instead I’ll focus on finding the best deal for the other things baby needs like the car seat and crib. Yea that can be my new task, finding the best price at different stores, resale shops, Craigslist, and other online sites. The only problem, those items are sold right next to the cute baby clothes!

I know a thing or two about car seats, too. Just remember that the safest seat is the one that fits your car and your child correctly, and is used properly (according to the manual) every time. There are really great ones that fit regular people budgets, so don’t feel like paying more is going to make your child safer. They all pass the same tests to be sold legally. A lot of people feel like they have to fork over a ton of cash to ensure they are doing what is best, but it is actually totally okay, and equally as safe to buy a bargain car seat! 🙂 Just don’t buy a car seat at a resale store…you don’t know the history and it might not be safe! Happy bargain hunting!
Thanks for the tips!
You just need to be trained in the ways of Gymboree!!! I am so addicted to shopping. It is one of my favorite hobbies, I get a rush…a high off of the challenge, the thrill of the hunt! Not to brag, but I am pretty amazing at it. Haha. I take photos of nearly everything I buy, and post them on the internet with the original prices, what I paid, the percentage I saved, and the average price per item. This is a blog I posted on the subject a few years ago…and my skills have only gotten better since then! Read and heed, friend! http://happyteamhayes.blogspot.com/2011/07/gymbucks-math-47180-75.html
YES! that is the other reason I love looking at the clothes, to try and find the best deal haha!
