Brushing Teeth

We have come to another “first” with Bryce – brushing his teeth!  We would use a brush and water here and there, and have him chew on one of those baby brushes that is more of a teething nub.  Reading about brushing baby teeth and remembering what our pediatrician told us, I found out that a brush and water is recommended. Around 1 year you can start using non-flouride toothpaste, which they usually need as their breath occasionally gets less than pleasant!

I went to the store and loved all the cute baby toothbrushes and non-fluoride toothpastes to choose from.  I bought an Elmo set and another set that included a finger toothbrush just in case he put up a fight.  I held Bryce and just put the toothbrush into his mouth and start singing a “let’s brush our teeth” song that I just made up “brush brush brush” and he did great!  Brushing his 7 little teeth was a moment I tried to put in my memory bank, definitely a first I want to remember.

Now we will start getting in the habit of morning and nightly teeth brushing so he gets use to doing it and in a few years will be doing it all by himself!
