photo(26)This year’s Valentine’s Day was very special for me.  It was the first time my husband and I were able to celebrate together.  He worked in the restaurant business and now is a personal chef, so Valentine’s Day is one of his busiest days.  This year, however, it just worked out that he didn’t have any gig scheduled!

So it was time to do something we have never done together – pedicures!   Yes I had to beg him but because I never touch his feet, I wanted him to enjoy a professional foot massage.  Plus he was pleasantly surprised by the big massage chairs we sat in while getting the pedicures.  Even though I don’t think he’ll do it again anytime soon, he did enjoy it more than he thought he would.

Then we went to dinner, arriving at the restaurant before 5:30pm so we laughed at how old we must be getting to arrive that early.  Hey, we beat the rush!  During dinner we exchanged cards and had fun comparing who got the better card.  Then it was back to pick up Bryce from the sitter and our Valentine’s Day was over.  Just a few hours, doing a few simple things together, and I loved it.

What could make this Valentine’s Day even more special?  The single rose that arrived to my house from my dad.  He has been doing this for my sister and I for as long as I can remember, and I look forward to it every Valentine’s Day.  This tradition stood out to me even more this year since we are expecting a girl, and I told my husband I can’t wait to see what traditions he creates with his daughter.  What is a daddy/daughter tradition your family has created or continued?
