Reorganizing to get a fresh start for 2022? For a lot of us that means sorting through and getting rid of a lot things our kids have outgrown. So, where can you donate all these items? Goodwill, Amvets, Father Joe’s Village, and the Salvation Army are all great places to donate, but there are some smaller organizations that could use your donation, too. Here’s a short list:

San Diego Rescue Mission. For over 50 years the San Diego Rescue Mission has been serving the homeless community in our city. They’re in need of baby gear and gently used clothes for adults and kids. You can schedule a pickup or drop off your donation at one of their locations.

Gently Hugged in Rancho Bernardo. They accept new or gently used baby clothes, accessories, and blankets that will go to low-income families in need. Make your donation at their office located at Bernardo Winery (13330 Paseo del Verano Norte, Suite 1, San Diego, CA 92128) They’re open Wednesday- Friday from 10AM-noon. Or visit one of their drop off locations around San Diego.

American Cancer Society Discovery Thrift Shops in Point Loma and Rancho Bernardo. Your donations not only help those in need, but it also helps fund cancer research. Bring in your gently used items like houseware, furniture, clothes, and jewelry.

Home Start Thrift Boutique in Normal Heights. Toys, books, and clothing are accepted here. This non-profit organization is dedicated to child abuse prevention has a couple of programs that provide parent education classes, and they even have a Maternity Housing Program that teach new moms job skills to gain work place experience.
