I am having trouble putting the words 7 year old and push up bra in the same sentence, but that’s just me. When I was growing up, I don’t remember push up bras with 7 year olds being a concern. Then again, teens and tweens didn’t look they were sophomores in college back then either. It’s scary how fast our kids want to grow up these days and some moms are saying companies that make push up bras for such young girls are not helping.
Recently a mother shopping at a store called Primark, a store primarily located in the UK recently opened several stores in the US saw something that outraged her. While shopping at Primark, this mom noticed some cutesy padded bras with tags that read “My first Bra.” The tag on the bra doesn’t necessarily state the age that the bras are made for, the name, “my first bra” is pretty clear. Most people are assuming they’re for girls between 7 and 13, the ages when girls start developing breasts. Well – people are outraged that a padded push up bra is being marketed for such a young age, but further that girls are being marketed bras that basically tell them there’s something wrong with their bodies.
This mother was so outraged, that she took straight to Twitter. Not every single person was outraged, one person even said “Get a grip. It’s a wee bit of padding, not a push up bra.”
