1. Love You Forever by Robert Munsch
With over 20 million copies sold since its release in 1986, this poignant tale of enduring love has a special way of touching the hearts of children and mothers. As Circle of Moms member Jillian R. shared: “I always cry when I get to the part where the son climbs in his mother’s window and rocks her. By far the sweetest and best book ever. My mom would read it to me when I was little and now I read the same exact copy to my son.” Amanda W. agrees: “It is a fantastic book and it embodies how we feel about our children and as when we grow older our roles are reversed but the love is forever!!!”
2. Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
Describing a young bunny’s nightly routine of saying goodnight to various objects, this rhyming story first published in 1947 has become an enduring bedtime standard, beloved by parents and children alike. Sophia H. shares: “It’s a classic. My daughter (22 months) loves it so much, she’s memorized it.”
3. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
“I have such great memories of reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar as a child!” shares Dawn D. She’s not alone. First published in 1969, the celebrated classic has sold 30 million copies and been translated into 45 languages. In addition to its innovative design and gorgeous artwork, Elisa F. hints that another reason may help its enduring allure: “My kids love all the different foods the caterpillar eats. They are very food-oriented boys!”
4. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak
“My favorite childhood book was Where the Wild Things Are,” shared Katy F., one of many Circle of Moms members who consider the title their absolute favorite children’s book. “I’ve read this to my children and they love it as much as I did.” Published in 1963 and awarded the Caldecott Medal in 1964, the acclaimed picture book has sold over 19 million copies worldwide.
5. Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss
